Nestled at the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area, Châtel embodies the authentic charm of a traditional Alpine village. Its many chalets, with their distinctive local architecture, balconies adorned with colour and carved details, echo the resort's proximity to Swiss Valais.

Picture-postcard landscapes are guaranteed: our English-speaking friends nickname it the "Chocolate box resort", in reference to the resorts depicted on elegant boxes of chocolates.

At the heart of one of the largest ski areas in Europe, Châtel enjoys an exceptional setting. More than 50 years ago, a few visionary individuals imagined the first cross-border ski domain in the world. The Portes du Soleil were born, today linking 12 resorts across 2 countries.

Between mountain and Lake Geneva

At once picturesque and modern, Châtel enjoys an ideal location, on the doorstep of Switzerland and within easy reach of Lake Geneva.

Just 1 hour 30 minutes from Geneva international airport

The resort is easily accessible all year round. By car, take the A40 motorway for around 70 km – exit at Annemasse, then head towards Thonon-les-Bains and on to the Abondance Valley.

Taxi services and direct transfers from the airport are available. On request and with a little notice, we can organise your journey for a stay in complete serenity.
